Man Found Not Guilty Following Felony Bench Trial

Recently, we received a not guilty verdict on a client who faced an eight-year hard labor prison sentence for felony second-degree battery by domestic violence after a two and a half day bench trial in Bossier Parish. We obtained the not guilty verdict by virtue of fully investigating the case before we ever set the case for trial and through bruising cross examination of the alleged victim, who was married to our client at the time of the alleged incident, and her supporting and corroborating witnesses.

We rested our defense after calling only two witnesses, our firm investigator and a Crime Scene Investigation and Reconstruction expert. We did not have to call our client to the witness stand and through tactful cross examination, we transformed the law enforcement witnesses who testified for the State in its case in chief into witnesses who supported our version of the facts.
